Our Wedding

John and Maria—known to many as “Mia”—have a love story that has truly stood the test of time. Their journey began many years ago, when they were just 18 and 19 years old, at a mutual friend’s wedding. After only briefly talking that day, they soon discovered they were both attending the same community college. Not long after, in the early days of MySpace, John decided he couldn’t let the moment pass—he tracked Mia down online, reached out, and the rest was history.What started as a young connection quickly grew into something much deeper. Over the years, John and Mia grew side by side, becoming not only partners but best friends. They built a relationship rooted in laughter, loyalty, and shared adventures, with a love for traveling and exploring new places together.Along the way, life led them to Twain Harte, California, where they created a home and started their own little zoo. There, their family grew to include three black cats—Piper, Binx, and Ollie—and their mini dachshund, Georgia. Being devoted “fur parents” has become one of their greatest joys.Both John and Mia are only children, and they are blessed to be close with their parents, who still live nearby. Family has always been at the heart of their story, shaping the values and love they share today. John is proud to work alongside his parents in their family business, while Mia dedicates her days to caring for others as a nurse at the local hospital—roles that reflect their shared commitment to hard work, compassion, and loyalty.After many years together, John and Mia are finally tying the knot—and they couldn’t be more excited. While they’ve already built a beautiful life together, this celebration means something truly special to both of them. Making it “official” is a moment they’ve long looked forward to, and they are so grateful to share it with the people who have been part of their journey.They can’t wait to celebrate their love with all who are near and dear to their hearts.

Ashley and I met in nursing school, and ever since, we’ve been a part of each other’s lives. We’ve been there for all the important moments, and through life’s ups and downs, she’s always been there with laughter, advice, and endless support. I couldn’t imagine standing by my side on this special day without her.

Mike Towle is a close friend of both the bride and groom, and there was no one more perfect to marry us. When choosing an officiant, we knew we wanted someone near and dear to our hearts—someone who truly knows our story and could share it with love and authenticity. This Hotel is walking distance to the wedding venue. The room block is active now and you will need to call and reserve your room under "The Slaton Wilbur Wedding". Historic Sonora Inn

This Hotel is part of The Historic Sonora Inn. it is just behind it, and both were recently remodeled. Both are walking distance to the venue and great options. The room block was only available for The Historic Sonora Inn, but both are great options! Located in Sonora, Hotel Lumberjack offers 3-star accommodations with a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, a garden and a terrace. The hotel also has free WiFi and free private parking. The hotel will provide guests with air-conditioned rooms offering a desk, a coffee machine, a fridge, a microwave, a safety deposit box, a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with a shower. All rooms feature a closet. Buffet and continental breakfast options are available at Hotel Lumberjack.

Hotel Lumberjack

This is a new Casino located 10 minute drive from the venue. I did get a room block for here as well. It's a great option for people to stay. It's a non-smoking casino, with several restaurants on site.
